Create Your Own Self Love Jar: A Craft for All Ages

Creating and using a Jar of Self Love is an incredibly joyful and fulfilling craft activity. It’s great for all ages and a great way for us all to take some time for ourselves.

Taking the time to write down all the wonderful things you appreciate about yourself is not something we do very often. Then creating your own, dedicated jar is a delightful reminder of how important you are. You can then read your notes whenever you need a self love boost!

A Quick Guide to Self Love?

Self-love means valuing and caring for yourself. It’s about recognising your worth and taking care of your well being. It means treating yourself with the same kindness and care you would show a good friend.

  • Doing things you enjoy
  • Staying healthy
  • Taking time for self care

You could also include uplifting positive affirmations, images or quotes that inspire you.

Supplies you’ll need to make a Jar of Self Love:

How to create a Jar of Self Love:

Choose Your Jar: Find a jar or container that resonates with you. It could be a glass jar like I’ve used, a plastic tub or even a box, or anything you like.

Gather Materials: You’ll need small pieces of paper or sticky notes and paint pens (see my list above). You might also want to decorate your jar with stickers, paint, or other embellishments to make it feel personal.

Decorate your Jar: I used sticky notes to make heart shapes for the front of the jar and to use for notes inside my jar. Decorate however you like.

Write Affirmations: Take time to write down positive affirmations, encouraging quotes, or personal reminders. These can include things like “I am enough,” “I deserve happiness,” or reminders of past achievements.

Fill the Jar: Fold or roll the notes and place them in the jar. You can add as many as you like, and feel free to add new ones over time as you grow!

Use It Regularly: Whenever you need a boost, draw a note from the jar. Read it aloud and let it sink in. This can be especially helpful during tough moments or when self-doubt creeps in.

Reflect and Update: Periodically, take some time to reflect on the notes in your jar. You can remove ones that no longer resonate with you and replace them with new affirmations that reflect your current journey.
