Mountain breaths is a fun nature themed breathing activity for kids. It can help everyone to chill out and feel more in tune with nature. I also think its a great breathing activity to boost confidence and feel strong just like a mountain.

You can find two versions of this breathing activity below. Activity one is a guided exercise and activity two is a shape tracing. You’ll find both activities and the Mountain affirmation poster below and in my free resource library.

Activity One: Mountain Breaths Visualisation.
- First Find Some Space: Find a comfortable spot where you can sit or stand.
- Then Relax Your Body: Take a moment to relax your shoulders, unclench your jaw. Relax any feelings in your body.
- Visualise: Imagine that you are surrounded by majestic mountains – their strength, stability, and beauty is all around you. In your mind you can repeat the affirmation. I am a mountain, I am strong.
- Start by Breathing In: Breathe in deeply through your nose. Image that you are drawing in the fresh, crisp air of the mountains.
- Next Hold Your Breath: Pause for a moment at the top of your inhale. Absorb the energy of the mountains around you.
- Then Exhale Slowly: Exhale gently through your mouth, visualising the release of any feelings you want to let go of. Imagine that you are breathing out foggy clouds, letting them disappear into the air.
- Repeat and Finish After a couple more rounds of mountain breaths, slowly open your eyes. Take a moment to appreciate how you feel, and carry this mountain energy with you throughout your day. Repeat again, I am a mountain, I am strong.

Activity Two: Mountain Breaths Shape Tracing
Mountain Breath shape tracing (aka triangle breathing) can be a fun and relaxing activity for kids. Print off the free poster to use alongside the instructions below.
- Start at one corner and follow the edge up slowly, going over the lines a couple of times to get comfortable with the shape.
2. For the breathing exercise, you can combine it with tracing the triangle.
3. As they trace the first side of the triangle, have them take a deep breath in through their nose. While tracing the second side, ask them to hold their breath for a moment. Finally, as they trace the third side, guide them to slowly exhale through their mouth.
4. This exercise can be repeated several times, helping kids develop both their drawing skills and a sense of calm through mindful breathing.

I hope you enjoy trying out this Mountain Breaths breathing activity for kids. I love to come up with new ideas and share them. If you can, please support my small business through a purchase in my shop or maybe buying me a coffee. That would be amazing. Thank you. Take Care Emma 🙂
